Description

Position and Responsibilities
Camecos safety, health, environment, and quality (SHEQ) teams at Key Lake are responsible for supporting the operation with regulatory and internal monitoring requirements. In this role you will provide coverage for general technician duties in the areas of environment, safety, and radiation protection.

You will be responsible for supporting the existing SHEQ technicians in completing bulk sampling and preventative maintenance tasks during peak demand periods.  Duties may include:
    Daily checks of fire systems and emergency response vehicles
    Weekly fire water pump checks
    Fire protection preventative maintenance tasks
    Gas testing for confined space and hot work permits
    Daily radon progeny and gamma sampling
    Long-lived radioactive dust sampling
    Radiation scanning
    Radiation Work Permit issuing
    Daily potable water plant inspections and water samples
    Daily and weekly effluent sampling and shipping
    High volume air sample collection and setup
    Daily and weekly area inspection and checks
    Collection of groundwater samples

Education and Qualifications
Requirements of the position:
    Safety, radiation or environmental monitoring technician certificate or diploma, or a post-secondary education in a related field
    At least three years of work experience in one or more areas of safety, environment, or radiation
    Equivalent combination of education and work experience considered
    Work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft
Assets:
    Experience working in more than one area of SHEQ
    Experience as a member of the Occupational Health Committee (OHC)
    An aptitude and desire to become a member of the emergency response team

Applicants will be considered for a level within the job progression, which is appropriate to their qualifications. Preference will be given to Residence of Saskatchewans North.
