David Aplin Group, one of Canada's Best Managed Companies, has partnered with our client, a leading manufacturer, to recruit a Senior Design Engineer for a permanent, full-time opportunity located in Saskatoon. The Role:
Develop machine/design concepts for new products, product improvements and modifications as well as assisting with the production and sales of those products
Design products using SolidWorks modelling software program and create detailed component part and/or assembly drawings
Perform value-added engineering to enhance products
Lead investigations into opportunities for improvement
Oversee R&D technicians in the manufacturing of prototypes
Assist in field testing new products and evaluate performance for approval or problem resolution
Research and specify required materials including sourcing vendors to supply specified materials and working with the Supply Chain Management team to secure vendor approval
Assist the Manufacturing Engineering and Production department by providing all relevant parts specifications & data, as well as supporting the implementation of layouts & flows through the manufacturing plant
The Ideal Candidate:
BSME and Canadian P.Eng is required
8 years of mechanical design experience, preferably in an industrial/manufacturing environment
Proficient in 3-D computer modelling software, design layouts, assembly drawings and/or component part drawing required
Excellent computer skills, including extensive knowledge of CAD software programs, preferably SolidWorks
Fluent in the industry technical terminologies
Knowledge of engineering design standards and manufacturing capabilities
Strong communication skills, including the ability to coordinate with other departments, and complete product demonstrations
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
