Description

The Public Works Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient operation of vehicles and equipment to carry out work related to the maintenance and operation of the Public Works Department.
Responsibilities:
    Operates equipment to remove sand, litter and trash.
    Operates equipment to remove snow from streets, parking lots and other areas.
    Operates sewer maintenance equipment to maintain and repair sewer systems.
    Operates trucks equipped with apparatuses for spreading sand, salt or abrasives on roadways.
    Performs general equipment operation and maintenance.
    Maintains vehicle and equipment maintenance logs.
    Assists with any labour related to the repair and maintenance of water or sewer mains and services.
    Assists with repair and maintenance of sewage lift stations.
    Cleans and repairs catch pits and manholes.
    Assists with the rebuild of streets and sidewalks as required.
    Performs traffic control duties as assigned.
    Operates all light utility vehicles of the Public Works fleet for various purposes.
    Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications:
    Grade 12 or equivalent GED.
    Training and certificate in Power Mobile Equipment for the following:  excavator, grader, compactor, loader and skidsteer required;
    Hand signal training required;
    Certificate in Confined Spaces, Bucket Training and Fall Protection required;
    Possession and maintenance of a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 licence and a valid Class 3A licence required
Experience
    Three (3) years experience in municipal operations or equivalent.
