Description

The purpose of the Telecommunications Outside Plant (OSP) Technician is to be part of a team of technicians installing fibre optic cables/wiring to various residential and commercial properties.

What you will be doing:

Installing and/or pulling in fibre optic/coax/electrical cable in underground facilities.
Installing aerial fibre optic cables.
Lashing aerial cables.
Operating a bucket truck.
Installing/removing temporary drop cables
Terminating and testing Fibre Optic Cables
Reading blueprints
Other duties as required.

Requirements:
Valid Drivers' License with acceptable driver's abstract.
Acceptable criminal record check
2+ years experience in a telecom or electrical installation environment
Willing to travel, work extended hours in a Modified Work Arrangement, and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Must be able to lift 50lbs

Nice to have:
Experience using equipment such as vibratory plows, bucket trucks, aerial lifts etc.
Experience with splicing of Fibre Optic cables
Additional safety training certifications. ie) ground disturbance, confined space, fall protection, etc.
Certificate/Diploma in a Fibre Optics Field.
Pre employment or apprenticeship in the Electrical Field.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite programs (Excel, Word, Outlook etc.).
Ability to perform minor mechanical maintenance
