Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Attend a portion of monthly meetings of Council to provide a written monthly report and summarize monthly activities as well as provide recommendations to Council on maintenance-related matters. Co-ordinate and assign work schedules. Ensure proper training of employees on all equipment. Supervise day to day operations of public works. Plan present and future operations. Control work quality and production. Oversee the activities of contractors. Participate in the assessment and development of RM roads. Oversee the operation of the municipal gravel quarries and gravel inventories.Oversee, schedule and ensure appropriate invoicing of municipal custom work. Equipment maintenance and record keeping of equipment logs/maintenance forms and circle checks, inventory of tools, parts and supplies. Maintaining proper occupational health and safety requirements. Maintaining all road networks in the RM (grading, surveying, snow removal, culvert, and sign installation). All duties as assigned by Council or as provided for, in the RM of Paddockwood No. 520 policies
Job requirements:
Good communication skills with council, staff and rate-payers,Organizational and record keeping skills. Ability to maintain and work within maintenance budget. Ability to work without supervision and with other employees, Ability to supervise employees. Knowledge of and ability to operate and maintain graders, track hoe and other light, medium and heavy equipment. Experience in road maintenance, preservation, and construction. Mechanical skills. Train the Trainer Certification would be an asset. Power Mobile Equipment Training Certification. Must possess a valid Class 5 drivers license; Class 1A would be an asset.
Previous municipal experience and knowledge of environmental permitting requirements would be an asset. Criminal Record Check and Drivers Abstract required prior to hiring
