An employee in this position would function as a Technical Assistant to the Geotechnical Engineering Unit. The Geotechnical Engineering Unit at WSA manages the geotechnical aspects of Technical Maintenance Program (a major component of the dam safety program for 72 dams across the Province of Saskatchewan), and provides geotechnical input on Engineering projects in the Capital Program. Typical duties and responsibilities may include:
Assistance in maintaining, and developing the geotechnical monitoring database, and the borehole / lab testing database.
QA/QC of geotechnical monitoring and laboratory test data.
Generation of monitoring charts and reports, testing reports, borehole logs, and cross sections to support geotechnical performance evaluations of WSAs assets.
Assisting with geotechnical field monitoring and surveying, where required.
Assist with preparing applicable reports, and technical documentation.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Applicants should be enrolled in an Engineering Degree Program. There is a particular interest in drawing current students from University of Saskatchewan, and University of Regina with training or experience in Geotechnical Engineering. This role requires a high degree of independence, attention to detail and skills in engineering data analysis.
Work may require travel to the field. Travel, sustenance, and accommodations will be provided when required to work away from headquarters. Applicants will require a valid drivers license.
