David Aplin Group, one of Canada's Best Managed Companies, has partnered with our client to recruit a Senior Asphalt Testing Technician. This permanent, full-time opportunity is with a locally based organization specializing in earthworks, aggregate production, and road construction. We are seeking candidates with extensive local experience relating to paving, and proven leadership qualities.

The Role:
Perform laboratory testing and inspection of construction materials (e.g. soils, aggregate, and asphalt) according to MTO, AASHTO, and ASTM testing methods, protocols, and specifications.
Maintain laboratory instruments (calibrate, troubleshoot, diagnose and perform routine repair)
Supervise lab staff with respect to inspections, testing procedures, project requirements, and safety & environmental standards.
Prepare and record accurate information, maintain test results database.
Apply accepted methods for inspecting, sampling, and testing aggregates, asphalt, or other materials for the purpose of quality control. (eg. Grain size analysis, Atterberg limits, Density etc.)

The Ideal Candidate:
Minimum 5 years' experience of asphalt and mix design testing (Marshall and/or Superpave).
Relevant post-secondary education (Minimum requirement is a Diploma in Civil Engineering Technologies; preference will be given to applicants with a BE Civil degree)
Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, working computer knowledge including M.S. Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), and multitasking skills
