The Diamond F Farm Lead Hand is a senior member of the staff and can step in and lead the team when needed. Their work is multi-faceted and requires cross training in many of the areas of Diamond F, including livestock/sheep and lamb operations, farm machine operations, building maintenance, mechanics, yard maintenance, basic carpentry, truck driving and handyperson work. The work of the Farm Lead Hand, as with all roles at Diamond F, will differ and be dependent on the season.
The Farm Lead Hand must have strong communication skills and an openness to feedback to ensure proper information flows among the team and coordination between the team occurs. The ability to multi-task and juggle priorities is also important. The Farm Lead Hand will have a strong mechanical inclination and be willing to work as a team in all facets of the job. Common sense, time management, problem solving and a genuine interest in agriculture and growing things are also requirements of the Farm Lead Hand.
A Class 1A drivers license is preferred but not required. A willingness to complete the 1A driver program within a reasonable time frame, with support from Diamond F, is a requirement. The ability and desire to work in agriculture as well as knowledge of farming and agricultural equipment, technology and GPS is required.
The Diamond F team is one that promotes listening to others, gratitude, respecting opinions, a willingness to assist wherever needed, asking questions and not being afraid to speak up. Diamond F is safety focused and is considering growth opportunities, particularly in their livestock operations. This may present further management/leadership opportunities for the Farm Lead Hand.
