The Housing Navigator will provide personalized support to individuals and families experiencing or at-risk of homelessness by helping each client develop a Housing Plan to address their barriers to maintaining and sustaining permanent housing. As part of the Plan, the Housing Navigator will identify each area in which clients will need assistance to accomplish their goals and objectives (i.e. applying for public benefits, identifying subsidized housing, scheduling appointments, etc.). This position takes on the responsibility of providing the assistance necessary to ensure clients success.
Under the direction of the Director of Housing, the Housing Navigator provides client support such as advocacy, case management, benefit establishment, linkage to mental health/substance abuse services, and connection to stable housing and all other supportive services as needed.
Ideally, the CUMFI Housing Navigator will have extensive experience working with individuals that are chronically homeless, homeless families and/or homeless veterans, and knowledge of local Indigenous and non-Indigenous housing options and existing community programs and services.
The Housing Navigator will also manage the CUMFI Self Serve Information Kiosk Initiative, ensuring ease of use and accurate data exchange between users and organizations.
