Responsibilities:
-Lead the development and implementation of technical programs related to environmental programs and ecological/toxicological studies at Oranos Canadian properties
-Provide technical input on environmental topics through participation in meetings
-Provide expert advice on matters pertaining to ecology, environmental management, statistical analysis, and preparing reasoned arguments
-Perform assessments of facility performance relative to design criteria
-Assist with projects including engineering/scientific studies, environmental assessments, follow up programs, resolution of technical issues requiring environmental expertise, preparing reasoned arguments and licensing of mining projects
-Lead and/or participate in authoring and reviewing technical documentation in support of regulatory submissions and environmental performance review
-Lead research initiatives including:
o Identifying emerging issues and potential areas of research, coordinating research activities within HSE department, university researchers and institutions
o Acting as HSE contact on environment-related R&D with Paris for securing funding, approving publications, and periodic reporting
-Monitor evolving environmental legislation, standards and guidance, provide briefings on issues to Orano colleagues, and prepare comments for submission to regulators
-Represent Orano and participate as a member of stakeholder forums
Skills and Qualifications:
-A university degree in an environmental science discipline (Biology, Ecology, Toxicology)
-10 or more years of related experience
-Demonstrated experience conducting ecological and human health risk assessments
-Knowledge of codes and regulations pertaining to mining and environmental protection
