Job Description: The Harm Reduction Nurse will engage with communities within Saskatchewan Health Authority S-NE Network 5 to increase capacity to offer appropriate Harm Reduction services. This position will work to reduce fear, stigma and misinformation in order to increase access to services and supports, deliver new community-led harm reduction services including Know Your Status, Needle Exchange, and Naloxone Kit Distribution. The Harm Reduction Nurse will partner with addictions medicine specialists, community addictions service providers, and health care providers to expand the Opioid Recovery Program. This position will also leverage engagement with an intersectoral Harm Reduction Working Group to promote accountability, responsiveness and evidence-informed practice. Performs other duties as required.
This is a Nurse B position that requires skills including facilitation of client-informed, community-based, collaborative Harm Reduction Services that are culturally safe and sex/gender/trauma informed. The Harm Reduction Nurse provides evidence-informed services
including coordination and delivery of an Opioid Substitution Program. This position serves communities within the SHA Network 5.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor Degree in Nursing
Registered or eligible for registration with the Saskatchewan Registered Nurses Association (SRNA)
Experience
Minimum of 5 years direct nursing experience in mental health and addictions and primary care or public/community health nursing.
Preference to nursing experience with sexually transmitted infections and/or blood borne pathogens in a clinical or community setting.
Preference given to individual with experience working with individuals who use substances and who engage in at-risk beh
