Description

The City of Swift Current is inviting applications for a Labourer position to work in the Water and Wastewater Collection Department.  This is an in-scope permanent full-time position.

Under the direction of the Superintendent of Water and Wastewater, you will be part of the crew which is responsible for construction, repair and maintenance of the water distribution system and the sanitary sewage collection system.

Advancement in positions in Water Distribution and Wastewater Collection are attainable through skills certification.  

The successful applicant for this position will be required to continuously work towards a Class 4 certification in both water distribution and wastewater collection and must achieve Class 1 water distribution and wastewater collection within 18 months of hire.  

Basic Requirements:
    Grade 12 Diploma
    Willingness to become Youth Certified.
    Previous related experience and proven ability to perform the duties in an efficient and skillful manner.
    Must be physically fit and able to perform outside physical labour at all times of the year including various weather conditions and temperature extremes.
    Ability to work well with other employees and within a team.
    Must achieve a class 3A drivers licence within 6 months of your start date.
    Must have a valid class 5 drivers licence at time of hire.  

Desirable Requirements:
    Possession of or ability to obtain Water and / or Wastewater Certification. Training as required by the Water Security Agency.  (Preference will be given to candidates who have completed appropriate training)
