The Town of Hudson Bay will be accepting applications to fill FIVE (5) positions as Laborer/Type 2 Wildland Firefighter. One of those positions being a Crew Leader.
The Town of Hudson Bay has signed an agreement with The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency to offer a TWENTY (20) WEEK employment opportunity, starting approx Monday, April 12, 2021.
Duties may include:
- Community work requiring physical labor, including but not limited to, running chainsaw to clear under bush and trees and general labor around the community as needed.
- If and when called to work as Wildland Firefighter with The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency, duties will include, but not limited to, perform fire suppression activities on wildland fires. Wildland firefighting is a physically demanding job that requires high levels of both aerobic and muscular endurance.
Applicants must be physically fit, as passing a fitness test is required, take various training that is offered and be capable of work requirements as assigned. Class 5 Drivers License an asset but not necessary. Must be able to travel and stay in remote locations to a maximum of 12 days. A Criminal Records Check may be requested.
Typical hours of work will be Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (dependent on demand for fire protection services hours/days may vary).
Salary: Crew Members (4 position available)
- $13.00/hr while conducting community work
- $16.52/hr while conducting fire protection services
Crew Leader (1 position available)
- $15.00/hr while conducting community work
- $20.18/hr while conducting fire protection services
