Description

SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Operations, the Heavy Duty Mechanic will be responsible for inspecting engines and equipment, carrying out services, conducting repairs, and providing routine maintenance to the construction fleet at the Kahkewistahaw First Nation Governance Center.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.    Inspecting bulldozers, cranes, graders and other heavy construction equipment for proper performance.
2.    Inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions.
3.    Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment.
4.    Testing repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers specifications.
5.    Troubleshoot issues on the job site.
6.    Service attachments and working tools such as blades, ploughs, winches and side booms.
7.    Controls downtime by informing workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.
8.    Schedule maintenance for industrial machines and equipment, and keep equipment service records.
9.    Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
10.    Any other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
