The Logistics Assistant is responsible for assisting the Logistics department staff with monitoring the availability and allocation of organization drivers and equipment. Duties include negotiating rates and schedules with departments and carriers to meet customer obligations. This position requires excellent communication skills, ability to adapt to new situations and initiative.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
Assist with monitoring availability and allocation of equipment and drivers
Interpret customer needs and assist with formulating plans to meet those needs
Create an effortless transaction for company clients, ensuring customer loyalty
Collaborate with other departments as necessary to meet customer requirements, to take advantage of sales opportunities, or in the case of shortages, to minimize negative impacts the company
Aid other departments in recruiting and scheduling pilot drivers for specialized loads within province
Manage the carrier list to find those who offer best rates and schedules
Negotiate rates and timelines with customers and carriers
Interpret and resolve problems for carriers concerning customs, loads, scheduling
Identify, bill, and collect for carrier errors and surcharges
Assist accounts receivable by obtaining Proof of Delivery receipts
Monitor and track bond and security clearances
Other duties may be assigned
