Description

Although this role will work out of the Q-Line office facilities, the accountant will independently provide accounting support for Quiring Farms Inc. and other holding Companies owned by the Quiring ownership partners.  This is a part-time position, with hours that will fluctuate based on work volume.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

Prepares, examines and analyzes accounting records, financial statements or other financial reports to assess accuracy in reporting and procedural standards
Prepares bank deposits and complete monthly Bank Reconciliation
Completes data entry activities for AG Expert Software and QuickBooks
Calculates and Administers payroll for a small group of permanent employees as well as seasonal workers
Prepares monthly reports for individual businesses and investments
Prepares and submits GST and other tax and government remittances
Participates in strategic planning for Farm Operations and other operations
Advises on and maintains insurance requirements
Administers payables
Prepares year-end documentation for external accountants and participates in the Year End Reporting Processes
Other duties as assigned

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum 4+ years of accounting experience, with experience providing accounting support to several different business entities and business management experience preferred
Relevant post-secondary education and accounting designation is preferred, but not required
Strong leadership skills and strategic mindset is required
Strong ethical standards is required
Must possess the highest level of personal integrity and confidentiality
Ability to utilize discretion and judgment when interpreting rules and guidelines
Ability to create and modify word-processed documents using Microsoft Office and Excel
Strong organizational, time management and prioritization skills
High attention to detail to ensure accuracy
Good communication skills
