Description

You will assume responsibility for the day-to-day payroll operations of all Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL), The Grocery People (TGP) and Interprovincial Co-operative (IPCO) locations as well as providing third party payroll services to reporting local Co-ops within the Co-operative Retailing System (CRS). This includes interpreting government payroll legislation to ensure all reporting requirements are met. You will also supervise a team of Payroll Associates and will also provide training/system support for local Co-ops on the proper usage of the payroll system.

You will review period payroll files and reconciliations, co-ordinate Year End process including file review of Year End Payroll account reconciliations for FCL, TGP, IPCO and local Co-ops. This includes issuing annual T4s and T4As for employees of FCL, TGP, IPCO and local Co-ops as well as submitting annual T4 and T4A information electronically to the CRA. Guide staff to complete annual returns for Workers Compensation and annual reconciliations of payroll taxes and withholding tax.
You will manage the maintenance of payroll records, payroll processing, payroll tax source deductions, benefit program deduction, union dues deductions, vacation allocation rates and remittances of all deductions withheld in accordance with provincial and federal laws and regulations.
You will provide ongoing support to payroll staff at local Co-ops using the payroll system. Responsible for maintaining training manuals and communicating changes in payroll legislation, standard accounting practices and system enhancements. Manage the setup of local Co-ops onto the payroll system and facilitate procedures for amalgamation and closures of local Co-ops.

You have a Bachelors Degree.
You have a minimum of 6-9 years of relevant progressively responsible experience in payroll and/or accounting.
An Accounting designation or Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) is required.
