Description

Meadow Lake Mechanical Pulp Inc. (MLMP) is the world's first successful zero-effluent-discharge market pulp mill that is a state-of-the-art, chlorine-free bleached chemi-thermo mechanical pulp (BCTMP) facility with annual production capacity of 420,000 ADMT. The mill operates 24 hours a day and 365 days of the year.

Responsibilities:
- Follows all safe work practices and procedures
- Performs hands-on routine planned, predictive and corrective mechanical maintenance
- Works with vendors to research mechanical technologies for optimizing mill equipment
- Reviews and interprets mechanical drawings
- Troubleshoots with other mill personnel, operational problems with equipment
- Develops and implements reliability integrity strategies for mechanical equipment
- Cleans, lubricates and performs other maintenance work
- Maintains a high level of housekeeping standards

Qualifications:
- Completion of Grade 12 education or equivalent
- Previous mechanical experience &/or indentured in the apprenticeship program is an asset
- Highly motivated and able to work independently
- Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces
- Ability to work in extreme weather conditions and temperatures
- Manual dexterity and ability to remain standing, crouching or bending for long periods of time

The successful applicant will be required to indenture as an Industrial Mechanic Apprentice.

There is an expectation of providing overtime as required to meet emergency mill needs and for scheduled mill outages. Once journeyperson status is achieved, the expectation is to provide routine scheduled shift coverage, as required.
