The Environmental Educator will:
- Coordinate, support, and deliver SESs established education programs in schools.
- Coordinate and deliver SES environmental education workshops with schools.
- Support teachers (e.g. check-in regularly; answer questions; provide educational guidance; assist with audits; help them access resources, people, and project partners).
- Create new; and review, update, or supplement existing lesson plans, audits and campaigns.
- Keep SES curriculum links up to date.
- Lead, facilitate, plan, and present at professional development workshops.
- Develop an annual summary of results of the programs (e.g. teacher and student surveys; program & projects overviews; recommendations for next year).
- Organize and facilitate meetings.
- Plan, in collaboration with supervisor, the budgets for SES energy conservation education programs and monitor expenses to ensure that they fit within the budget.
- Maintain the relationship with sponsors of these programs to facilitate on-going funding of SES K-12 energy conservation programs.
- Manage school/education inquiries and materials that come to SES.
- Develop and conduct new education programs in consultation with your supervisor.
- Seek new funding opportunities for education programming through proposal and grant writing.
The ideal candidate will:
- have a post-secondary degree in Education, and/or environmental science
- possess strong math skills and an education background teaching high school science
have a strong understanding of environmental issues and vocabulary
- have extensive experience with Microsoft Word, - Excel, and PowerPoint, and the ability to create videos using Powerpoint
- possess an understanding of the Saskatchewan Curriculum
- be able to work in the SES office in Saskatoon
Candidates with experience working with the unique challenges and benefits of charitable organizations is an asset.
