Description

The suitable candidates will possess the following qualifications/abilities: Grade 12 or equivalent; Must have Level 3 ECE (Early Childhood Educator) Diploma Valid First Aid/CPR, WHIMIS and Food Safety Handlers Certificate is an asset; Basic computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs; Personal experience as parent or caregiver of infants and/or young children; Ability to speak /understand Cree and/or knowledge of Cree Culture is an asset; Excellent verbal, written communication and public relations skills; A combination of education and experience may be considered; Must have a valid Drivers License; Must provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Check and a Drivers Abstract. The suitable candidates will be able to fulfill the following duties/responsibilities: Conduct ASQ screens to help determine a program plan for each child. Deliver Land Based and Woodland Cree programming using the curriculum provided. Plan, prepare, and implement daily activities (indoor/outdoor) as they relate to current best practice and Woodland Cree Culture & Language.  Provide activities and opportunities that encourage curiosity, exploration, and problem-solving appropriate to the development levels of the children. Assess the developmental level of children through observation and documentation. Be sensitive to individual children's differences and needs, and be willing to adjust the program and curriculum to meet those individual needs. Lead children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs and demonstrating the use of simple musical instruments. Prepare materials and assist children in using them. Select books, equipment and other instructional materials appropriate for the early childhood program. Interact with infants and children to encourage their involvement in activities. Report progress and challenges with program supervisor. Record necessary information pertinent to each child.
