Description

Kopahawakenum Community School is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to fill the position of School Principal for the 2024-25 school year.  The school is located on the Flying Dust First Nation on the northeast side of the City of Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan. The Kopahawakenum Community School offers a complete, modern educational program from Kindergarten to Grade 8.  The school features a gym with change rooms, a multi-purpose room, a library, a home economics room, PAA room, science and computer labs, and several resource areas.

Qualifications:

Masters of Education degree preferred and/or a Bachelors of Education degree from an accredited institution will be considered and also provide a timeline to obtaining a Masters of Education; Possession of a Saskatchewan Professional A Teachers Certificate; Must have a minimum of five (5) years of Teaching & School Administration experience.

Skills
- Experienced in local FN governance, ministry of education, and federal policies/procedures that will ensure staff unity while managing all school aspects and overseeing an effective / efficient Education Team.
- The Principal will follow the KCS land-based educational calendar and will involve elders, students, families, & community members in school & events planning.
- The Principal will set high standards and expectations for academic achievement, especially in the areas of literacy and numeracy and will involve students, families, & community members.
- The Principal must possess excellent leadership skills in communication & will demonstrate what healthy, positive, and high-functioning classrooms are.
- The Principal will assist and provide supports to teachers in adjusting teaching styles and curriculum as required for inclusivity, using differentiated instruction.
