Description

The Family Violence Outreach Worker (Off-Reserve) is responsible for providing a broad range of support, education, and crisis intervention services to individuals affected by (or likely to be affected by) interpersonal violence with the goal of guiding clients to a path of self-sufficiency that includes transfer of knowledge, strength, healthy habits, tools for change, and the confidence to make informed choices.

The suitable candidate will be able to perform the following duties:
Utilize identified assessment and case planning tools to assess clients support needs and determine case plan;
Establish a clear case plan, and work with clients to set goals and monitor the progress towards those goals;
Assist clients in setting up appointments and filling out forms in relation to their needs;
Identify required supports and other critical client needs (i.e., Childcare) for clients to meet the goals of their case plan;
With the clients permission, provides referral services to supports that cannot be offered internally;
Provide support and non-judgmental listening to clients as they navigate through whatever challenges they are facing;
Build and maintain a network of positive working relationships with other community service providers, community groups, etc. to develop programming, coordinate program delivery, ensure effective referrals and a good continuum of care;
All other work-related duties as assigned by Immediate Supervisor.

The suitable candidate will possess the following qualifications:
Completed post-secondary education, preferably in Social Work, Human Justice, or another relevant human services field;
At least 2 years experience in a human services field;
A combination of education and experience may be considered;
Ability to speak and understand the Cree and/or Dene language is an asset;
Must possess a Valid Class 5 Drivers License;
Must provide a satisfactory and recent; Vulnerable Sector Check.
