Roles and Responsibilities of the job include:
- Set up manual and CNC equipment
- Change cutting tools and adjust machine feeds and speeds as needed
- Identify root causes and actions for quality problems
- Utilize measuring equipment used in the industry such as calipers, micrometers, height gauge and other equipment needed to complete job
- Use prescribed procedures to produce parts and products to the customers specifications
- Detect and report defective equipment to shop foreman
- Maintain equipment and work area on a daily basis in a clean and orderly fashion
- Follow prescribed rules and standard safety regulations at all times
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Completed or enrolled in Machining course from Saskatchewan Polytechnic or equivalent
- Knowledge of CNC equipment capability and daily maintenance
- Skill in performing mid level math skills efficiently and accurately (including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division using whole numbers, fractions and decimals)
- Skill in reading and interpreting documents such as job cards, drawings, manuals and safety regulations
- Ability to communicate information clearly and directly to co-workers and supervisory personnel both verbally and in writing
- Ability to adapt to change (positive or negative)
- Ability to accept criticism and deal calmly and effectively with stressful situations
- Willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges
- Ability to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships
- Ability to pay close attention to detail
- Ability to operate a forklift
- Machining experience is preferred
