Description

Summer student position for someone experienced in handyman role.
Must have experience with power and hand carpentry tools, lawn equipment, painting.  You will need to wear steel toe boots, PPE as required. Doing handyman and yard work for senior citizens and lending them a hand so they can remain living in their own homes. Carpentry and handyman works including drywall patching, some renovations like fences, decks, Build stairs,or fences,  clean eavestrough, trim trees and bushes, outdoor painting, mowing lawns.  You must be able to estimate jobs, calculate requirements, Estimate material costs.  You will be picking up supplies and using your own vehicles to haul lumber, lawn equipment, gas cans, etc.  Mileage is paid.

Operate and maintain carpentry tools and equipment in a safe and responsible manner.
Minor plumbing repairs and renovations, replacing toilet and taps, and pipes, etc.
Minor electrical updates including replacement of switches, light fixtures and sockets
Patching drywall, painting walls and trim
Carpentry work including cutting and installing baseboards, hanging doors, minor kitchen cabinet repairs, removing and installing shelving and cabinets.
Delivery, loading and unloading of material and supplies
Removing debris and maintaining a trash free environment
Be available Monday to Friday between 8 am and 5 pm with some flexibility in the number of hours, (could be less).

You will also be  training and supervising volunteers doing yard work and other outside duties.  Experience in supervising staff and volunteers.

Must have your own vehicle to haul supplies preferably a truck is an asset.

Qualify for the government summer student program be under 30 years of age and returning to school in the fall.

Must be FLUENT AND PROFICIENT IN SPEAKING, READING, WRITING, LISTENING in the english language.
