Description

Overview:
As part of the Public Works and Utilities Department, the City of Humboldt is currently seeking to fill a Permanent, Full-Time Maintenance Technician. Under the direction of the Works & Utilities Manager, the Maintenance Technician will be responsible for repairing and maintaining equipment for the City of Humboldt in a safe and effective manner.

The individual in this role will have knowledge of repair and maintenance procedures for a wide range of equipment including passenger vehicles and heavy equipment and they will possess a sound knowledge of fuel, air brakes, electrical, hydraulic, lubricating, cooling, ignition, injection, engine, transmission, and differential systems. Knowledge of diesel and gasoline engine systems is also required. It is crucial that the successful candidate be able to perform difficult mechanical repairs without direction or supervision. The candidate should have a positive attitude, the ability to communicate, and work safely and effectively with others.  

Qualifications:
Certificate in one of the following areas: Heavy Equipment/Truck and Transport Technician, Agricultural Equipment Technician, Automotive Service Technician, or comparable certification plus two (2) years of relevant experience.
OR a minimum of six (6) years of demonstrated relevant experience in one or more of the areas listed above.
Journeyperson Certification is considered an asset.
Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Drivers License.

Compensation & Hours of Work:
This is an in-scope position under CUPE Local 2359. Starting rate of pay ranges from $31.34 to $34.03 per hour (2024 rates) dependent on qualifications.

General work schedule is Monday to Friday 8:00 am  5:00 pm with a one-hour lunch.
A Criminal Record Check will be required as a condition of employment.
