Description

The Ministry of Health is a place where leadership is customary, innovation is encouraged, and where individuals with ideas and commitment have an opportunity to make a difference.  We are committed to ensuring high-quality health care to the people of Saskatchewan through a responsive, efficient, and patient family-centered health care system.

The Ministry is seeking a strategic leader with strong management and communication skills for the full-time role of Executive Director, Mental Health and Addictions Branch. You will be instrumental in building this new branch as well as set the direction and guide the work of the branch, which is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and evaluation of mental health and addictions services and provides strategic policy advice and oversight of the Action Plan for Mental Health and Addictions 2023-2028. The Action Plan identifies three pillars of focus: building capacity, improving the system, and moving to a Recovery-Oriented System of Care Model. You will provide leadership to a team of professional staff and work collaboratively to build and maintain a respectful and effective branch culture.

You will possess knowledge of:

- Government structure, protocol, policies and procedures including decision-making, political, legislative and budget development processes;
- Best practices and emerging trends in Mental Health and Addictions programs,
- Health sector issues, partnerships and stakeholder relationships; and,
- Performance and financial management.

Typically, the knowledge and skills required for this position would be obtained through completion of a graduate degree in public policy, political science, economics, or business administration supplemented with related experience.
