Description

The person selected for this position will help in the planning and coordinating of the programs and events held at the Eastview Community Centre during summer 2024. You will be asked to lead, chaperone and monitor to ensure safety and a positive experience for neighbourhood youth aged from 5 to 17.You will need to stay in contact with our other program coordinator and instructors for the variety of other programs we have at the centre, you will need to help with the day to day maintenance and general cleaning of the facility.

Majority of the hours for this position would be 8:30am-4:30pm Monday to Friday. There will be additional hours as needed and as per contract agreement.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Plans, coordinates, and participates in a variety of arts and craft and sports-related activities for the neighbourhood youth;
2. Organizes activities and promotes participation;
3. Help organize and monitor the summer camp to ensure safety of participants; instructs youth in proper methods for operating tools and equipment; monitors and directs behavior at all times to ensure compliance with Centre rules;

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT:
Provided on-site by management.

Required Experience:
Knowledge of arts and craft and sports techniques;

C.P.R. and first aid/AED and Food Safe training would be an asset;

Ability to communicate effectively with youth and Centre staff and general public;

Ability to ensure the safety of the participants;

MENTAL AND PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
Ability to communicate and work with groups participating (age and skill levels) and provide necessary instruction to neighbourhood youth and Centre staff;

Ability to meet attendance requirements;

Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
CPR and First Aid/AED and Food Safe Certification (would be an asset)

Additional Comments:
Must provide a criminal record check before commencing employment.
