Facility: PUBLIC HEALTH - SHR
Job Description: Reporting to the Director of Public Health, Mental Health and Addictions, the primary goal will be to restore, maintain and enhance the recovery of individuals seeking help for addiction and/or addiction related issues by implementing various modalities of addiction recovery programs. Responsibilities include providing information programming as well as individual and group counseling sessions with clients. This position will be expected to assess individual and group needs of clients and implement plans to help clients reach their goals. This position will be responsible to work with the Director to develop new programs, submit funding proposals and to implement new programs. The positions will be responsible for supervision of Addiction Counselor - Diploma Senior and Addiction Counselor - Diploma positions. The position will be responsible for the financial management of part of Addiction Services.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor Degree in Chemical Dependency studies or another Bachelor Degree acceptable to the employer
Experience
At least two years experience at an Addictions Couselor - Degree position.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to accurately assess addictions and make appropriate recovery plans
Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbal
Ability to deliver workshops and lecture material to clients and community
Ability to demonstrate knowledge in addictions and their effects on the family unit
Ability to screen for addictions and/or addiction related issues and make appropriate referrals.
Ability to work independently to plan and organize work load demands.
