Description

The Battlefords Housing Authority has an opportunity on their Tenant Services Team for the new position of COMMUNITY OUTREACH WORKER.  If you are passionate about the differences of individuals, have proven problem solving skills, thrive on educating, coaching, collaborating, and making a positive difference in the lives of others, wed love to hear from you!

The Community Outreach Worker works with at-risk tenants to proactively explore solutions towards successful tenancies.  The position plays a key role in enabling tenant independence and integration into the community by identifying tenant issues and behaviors and connecting tenants to supportive resources in the community.

Acting as part of a support team to provide case management, the Community Outreach Worker will manage a large caseload, advocating on behalf of the tenant, attending case meetings and hearings with at-risk tenants.  Through role modelling, referral, and education you will promote life skills development and build capacity and confidence for at-risk tenants to access the resources required.

The ideal candidate brings a background in human services through a Bachelor of Social Work or Indigenous Social Work along with three to five years of related experience, or combination of education and related experience. Sound knowledge of community-based health, social, and service organizations is required along with sufficient experience, knowledge, and judgement to manage difficult and high-pressure situations and decisions.

This is a full-time position for a term of two years; compensation  includes employee benefits and pension. A valid drivers license, reliable vehicle, and some flexibility in work hours are requirements of the position.   An approved Criminal Record (VS) Check will be required upon hire.
