The Saskatchewan Coroners Service, Ministry of Justice, has a challenging opportunity for an intermediate-level administrative assistant who is a confident, highly motivated and well-organized professional and is capable of working in a fast-paced, demanding and high-volume work environment. Reporting to the Supervisor of Administrative Support, you will provide administrative support to the southern coroners and to the Saskatchewan Coroners Service Headquarters staff.
You will respond using medical and legal terminology to inquiries made in writing, in person or by telephone from lay coroners, members of the public, RCMP, municipal police services, various government agencies and stakeholders such as funeral homes, transport services, lawyers and health professionals. This includes speaking directly with family members of the deceased who are extremely frustrated, angry, upset, grieving or distraught.
The successful candidate must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and knowledge of medical and legal terminology and processes, office and administrative practices and procedures, Government financial accounting policies and practices and computer applications including intermediate word processing techniques in a Windows environment. In addition, the successful candidate must be able to review documents and photographs that may be of a graphic nature.
Typically, the competencies required in this position would be obtained through formal education such as an office administration program, combined with several years of administrative support experience.
